Gifts Aids
Donating through Gift Aid means charities and community amateur sports clubs (CASCs) can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you give. It will not cost you any extra. Charities can claim Gift Aid on most donations, but some payments do not qualify. You need to make a Gift Aid declaration for the charity to claim. Your donations will qualify if they are not more than 4 times what you have paid in tax in that tax year (6 April to 5 April). If circumstances change and you no longer pay enough tax, it is important to tell all the charities you support. If you do not tell them and they continue claiming Gift Aid, you’ll need to pay any difference back to HMRC.
If you regularly donate to charity or you just like to sponsor a friend when they fundraise, we can make it simpler for you. At SEARS Accountants, we can deal with all the Gift Aids-related matters. We can register your charity for Gift Aids, obtain authorization as agents and claim the gift aids (including CASCs). .
